A new look

Happy Valentine's day mini album/card

Hey guys,
I've got the flu so just a quick post today.This is a Valentine's Card
I made using one sheet of patterned paper and a mini album template.
Cut 3 pieces of 4 x 12 paper, score each piece at 4 inches and 8 inches,
fold on score lines.Overlap and glue a 4x4 inch square end to each other
and repeat with the last piece.Fold and decorate.On the first glued square
I glued in a long piece
of white ribbon to tie and hold the card closed.

my first tutorial..a pretty flower

Hi everyone,
today I am doing my first EVER online tutorial...
so bare with me :)
yesterday I posted a cute pic of 2 types of flowers
that I made.This is the tutorial for the purple one....
all you need is a
daisy punch,
glue or glue dots,
2 colors of cardstock (Thick cardstock is best,,,thin stuff rips)
and some water (in a mister works best)
Here we go.........
Using a daisy punch,
Punch out 5 coloured flowers and 1 green flower for the leaves...

Using your mini mister filled with water/ or spray bottle. Spray a SMALL
amount of water in the center area of the flower.

With your fingers work the water from the center to the edge of each petal....only a small amount is to be used...to much will tear paper...so easy does it....

Place the petal to be worked on onto a foam craft mat, old mouse pad....something soft and has some give...very important step

With the rounded end of a pen or embossing tool rub the petals from petal edge into the center .Do each petal until they curl upward...

With the end of the pen or embossing tool rub the center area of the flower in circular motions until it curves/cups...

Using your fingers form the flower into a small ball with the petals curled in toward the center.Do all 5 coloured flowers like this.

Take the green "leaves” flower and with your fingers bend each petal in half lengthwise

So that the petals form leaf shapes

Once you have all 5 flowers done...loosen each up a bit then assemble .alternate/stagger the petals.

I glue them between layers with Aleene's fast grab tacky glue...it works very fast...so you need to as well

Once all 5 layers are in place ,glue on the very back your leaf/green flower...

Fluff up as needed...

Ta da you did it...not so hard is it....

I hope you have fun making your own....
Please let me know what you think of the tutorial .It is my first one and I need feedback on anything that needed to be done differently..

New scrap space

Hey everyone.......
Well our son is all moved out...it feels really odd..I've tried to
make a positive out of it by moving my scraproom to the basement.
We have a modest 3 bedroom bungalow with a partially renovated
basement.our son had a fourth room down stairs..
I've taken out the rec room and turned it into the scraproom....
a work still in progress....some pics below ...
I had just a small 9x12 room upstairs so now I can actually have
friends over to crop yay..lots of work yet to be done but here is the starting
pics...
also in the last 2 weeks my father in law has been in the hospital diagnosed
with bowel cancer..had bowel removed and a colostomy /poop bag
put on which he is not dealing well with..who would..
The hospital is 2 1/2 hrs away ...so long drives...
(he had it 30 yrs ago had surgery then and again 18 yrs ago...
so very luck in reality to still be here all this time --now 84)..
It's been a rough few weeks but he has been lucky because they got it all
and he is recovering...prayers do get answered....
so no new crafts.... but new scrap space pics instead...

Thanksgiving card

Long time no post..sorry...life has been keeping me
very busy..
It is odd not having to go school supply shopping
for the first time ...our school year starts the first
day after labour day...I know some of your
kids are already back....
Our thanksgiving is in Oct verses Nov so I made
a quick card getting into fall mode...its supposed to
be 26-30 here on saturday and sunday..

B-day

Well ladies I am still around.Sorry I have not posted

any crafts in the last month

but our summer is so short and as I work night shifts
I miss alot of the nice days

sleeping through them...I have kept busy with my
birthday,our 20th wedding

aniversay,our day trips to Fundy national park,
the international kite festival ,
(France,England,Haiti,New Zealand etc...)

sons 18th birthday...whew

20th anniversay flowers

Hey everyone,

I hope everyone is having a great summer so far..

I went to Halifax on the weekend.About 2 1/2 hour

drive each way.It was a beautifull day 31 degrees

out.I wanted to go to photo memories to get scrapbook

supplies that I can't find here ...We have a micheal's ,

a Walmart and a local scrapbook shop but I wanted

something different.I was disapointed at the variety they

carried ...

then went to the waterfront and had supper at

Murphys.( scallops yum)..we got a habor side

table with an open window so we could smell

the sea air

and watched the sailboats in the harbor...

unique water to land tour boat..harbor tour then drives on the streets for city tour...

We shopped the local shops and malls then headed home again...

I couldn't believe I forgot my camera....

I took a few pics from the Net to show those of you that

dont know the area what we saw and how

pretty it is...(thanks to whom ever took these pics originally)

I have included a few picks of the scrap

items I did get ( cheaper than at micheals).
so not a total loss...

we are having a heat wave 35+ more like 40 with humidity......

pss..thats very hot for us...

so I am going to eclipse again to enjoy the view

and air conditioning...

plus tomorrow is my 44th birthday and

but I am just looking not
touching..lol..)

Travel in style--prom layout 2010

This is a layout of my sons prom...We rented him a red
hummer to go with their outfits..
He was so pleased..he was beaming all day...
I made some paper roses and used diamond dust on one
and smooch on the others...
I made the hummer on the cricut using stand and salute
(thanks again Barb...for the kind offer to make it for me..
I didnt have the cart but snagged it on ebay and it came
super fast..)...
I used graphically speaking for the titles...
2 imaginisce stamps and black ink...
patterened paper and bl/wh cardstock...

One crazy week

Hey guys,

Another crazy week...worked my 4x 12hour nights then took my
fur baby to the vet for
A burst cyst on his side= dressings daily and antibiotics.
Went and ordered flowers for graduation (prom 22nd/grad 24th)...Gonna drive 2.5 hrs each way on Saturday to go see my nephews prom.My son and he are 5 weeks apart .of course their graduation had to be the same day on the 24th .we can go to each other’s kids prom day at least to see them all dressed up...

I haven’t had time to craft anything.
I have to find time to do grad cards on Friday.i work tonight and 2 more..I guess Friday I’ll have no choice .it’s the only day ill have left...yikes...
Got a nice new fire pit but it rained:(. Will have to try it next week.
I’ve been checking everyone’s new items, awesome job guys...
I haven’t been able to comment on everyone’s but will catch up soon...

Teen tragedy..

I sadly report that on the weekend our small town suffered
an accident where 3 teens were killed and 2are in serious condition still,
in the hospital....Please pray for them...My son knew all 5 of these young people...
My heart and prayers go out to their famiies and friends...
My sons high school graduation is on the 24th...
sadly these young men and women wont be there...
I said a prayer of gratitude to have my son home safe and sound...
I may not have a new project this week...
Treasure every moment and tell the ones you love daily how much you care...
it can change in a blink of an eye...
I am very thankfull for all your love and support...keep safe and
God bless.....

Well the wisdom teeth are out and my son looks

DS Help..please...word book binding????

Ok ladies as I said in a recent post I just got the design studio program...yikes..I am tying to do a word book...I actually..trial and error ...managed to cut out the actual word/letters( my hubby's name...claude) and was smart enough to figure out to cut it in reverse to do other side...now...the ? I need help with is..what do you guys use/do to bind the books..I dont have any fancy binding tools...so...would large eyelets and rings do???...any suggestions....

Hey guys...I am beginning to think that I have a black cloud over my

Head as the last months have been a bit bumpy...nothing too major thank goodness,

Just minor illnesses and life issues that take me away from this the fun stuff...so I havent been in

Hey guys,

Hi guys,I saw a layout about being the queen bee(can't remember where ,sorry)

as well as patterned paper....The pin I got to show a Doctor at work who was

Hey everyone..
well I am not starting the year off well..
sore hips and now in physio
for possible osteoarthritis at 43..
my son has impacted and infected wisdom teeth
and can only get into the dental surgeon on march 22nd
for a consult ,then poss OR wait time and he is not sleeping
due to the pain
......fun times.....
Between working and physio my posts will be fewer than usual

A New Year

Wow it is 2010...

The last few weeks have been crazy busy for me

with my son having the swine flu, getting ready for

our two week trip to Florida, arriving home in a snow

storm ,getting ready for Christmas, working 4 x12hr

night shifts at the hospital all over Christmas 24,25,26

and 27th,then trying to have a part of it afterwards with

my hubby and son, then traveling to see my siblings now

back to work tonight for another 4 x 12hr nights. I am beat

and I have done no new projects but I do have 3 new Circuit

cartridges( a child’s year, from my kitchen and home decor)

and can’t wait to play....all I can post is some Florida trip

photos....hope you like...

Home from Disneyworld

Hi ladies;
     Well I am home from Florida and we had a blast. We had great weather except for our last day was very raining which wasnt great.When we flew home on the 5th we arrived in Canada to a snow storm
and were almost turned around and sent back to Montreal instead of landing in New Brunswick.
We landed safely but were covered in snow as soon as we left the airport
and had slippery roads all the way home (thankfully only 20mins away).
       We went to Bush this year for the first time and got to hand feed giraffes which I loved++++....
             I see you all have been very creative while I was away....Im working 4 12hr night shifts so itll be a bit before I can really look back at everyones creations...
       I hope you all have been well and had a great holiday(to my state friends).We arrived in Florida on the 27th so saw a bit of the holiday at Disney....
         Hopefully I'll have the energy to post something new soon..so much to catch up on housework,christmas preps,etc etc etc.....
       Vacations to Disney are exhausting..i need a vacation from my vacation lol

Disney Foam Board project

Hi guys,

I am feeling somewhat better today.I played around with the blog layout .I wanted it to have a better look...still working on it..please let me know what you think..whats ok whats in need of improving...

This is a project I did at a crop weekend.
It's made

with foam board,
painted white,with a frame cut out and a back cut out,papers added to look like a quilt,

hand stitching( which I stink at),chipboard letters and accents,gems,flowers,brads,

stamping,buttons,and black and white photos(I think they show up better)..

My DisneyWorld trip tips

I want to share a few of my trip tips for wdw with you...

Here goes...so if they are not in sequence...I’m adding them as I go..this is a bit long...
----Buy the unlimited refillable mugs at the resort. I buy ours the first day. Unlimited drinks (coffee, tea, hot chocolate and pop/soda).(see my blog post on refillable mugs)

----I cannot stress this one enough...PLAN which park you will visit on which day ahead of time. You’ll need to know this to plan your dining reservations. Park schedules come out about 3 months in advance, just in time for the 90 days ahead to book. I called the am of the 90th day and still can’t always get the times I want. This will also help you to know which park is open the longest which day. We live in Canada so when we go we want to be at the park that’s opened the longest to enjoy as much as we can. So I plan our days according to the parks opened the longest that day...You’ll need to consider the following; special events like Mickey’s very merry Christmas; do you really want to see wishes or spectromagic...you go all that way to find out it’s not showing the night you picked to go to MK but if you had of planned, just a bit ahead you’d have seen it.....
-----I make a weekly schedule and for each day put in the following—park hours—parade times—firework times—special event hours if attended( usually costs extra)—our dining reservation times(booked 90 days ahead of time )—etc... And then you can wander the park not worrying if you are missing anything as you have it all ready at your finger tips before you go...a great site I watch is www.intercot.com....
------Plan some sit down time, you’ll be more tired than you think at the end of the day, especially if you are not used to the hot Florida sun and the place is huge...we do outside rides then a cool air condition show then repeat....
-----Park hopper passes are worth it...if you are limited to one park and you get there and want to go to another you can...if it rains and you think one parks a better choice over another you can( rainy days ..don’t despair when people leave go to the character greets-- much less line up)
-----we schedule one sit down meal a day at a reservation required restaurant it gives the grownups relaxation and quiet time and a great meal( it’s not all about the kids, it’s your vacation to..Explain to the kids before you go you will be doing this one thing for you, not just everything they want and that no whining is allowed during this time)
-----The Disney dining plan is a huge deal if you book the sit down restaurants...some are pricey and are included in the plan and you save big time and eat like kings...see my blog notes on the dining plan..Photos of food included...
-----Pack all the medications you’ll need for the what if scenarios....gift shop Advil/Tylenol etc is like double the price 13-15 $ for a small bottle.
-----Ziploc bags...bring them ....for your liquids in your suit case(exploded shampoo or toothpaste all over your cloths-NOT fun) and wet socks after the water rides, for a face cloth to wipe kids up after a meal or messy ice cream, or to wet with cold water to put on your neck to cool down/ bandanas are great as well, also great to put camera memory cards locked in one place so they don’t fall out of the camera bag and get lost, kids picky eaters bring non perishable foods/left over’s along with you after eating at a restaurant for them to snack on later, great for kids just toilet trained but have an accident while waiting in line/underpants don’t need to be tossed out save them in the bag).
-----bring a plastic bag and put your shoes in it on wet water rides. Soggy sneakers aren’t fun to walk in (I bring water shoes in my bag to slip on for the water rides)
-----Do you have a bed wetter? Ask on arrival for an extra set of bedding so you don’t have to call someone at 3am...you can deal with it quickly go back and get precious sleep....
----If you are on a budget buy snacks and bring them to the parks, much cheaper .If you are on the Disney dining plan some snacks are included depending on which one you buy).
--- A word of WARNING: some counter service locals may offer both snacks and meals. Most snack items under $4 are eligible for the snack. Anything more may cost you a counter service credit. Be sure to Clarify that this is a snack item or you may find they’ve taken away a counter service credit and your short a meal credit.....
----An early lunch/brunch will help if you have the 2 meal plan...or use a snack option for banana bread or piece of fruit for breakfast or eat breakfast as a meal credit have a snack at lunch and eat an early dinner..Meals portions are huge at most spots...you won’t go hungry...My boys are big eaters and were fine...
-----With the swine flu fears antibacterial hand wipes/cleaners are a must....especially after the rides...wipe down the TV remote, door handles, towel bar and stroller/wheelchair handles( who knows who and how many people have touched these)...I advise getting the H1N1 flu vaccine(air planes/airports/rides/close to each other in lines)...
------Do you plan on shopping bring an empty suit case...lol...But watch the weight limits...we try to spread the weight evenly between all the bags we have...
-----In case of lost luggage we pack one full outfit for hot/cool days and underwear, tooth brush, comb, and medications (carry a list and copies of prescriptions...also eye glasses prescriptions in case broken...I can’t see without mine) in our carryon bags( just make sure no liquids as per airline policies)..Don’t pack anything you don’t want to lose in your main luggage...like camera/meds etc...
-----Take lots of photos and even if you don’t buy use the Disney photo pass photographers...browse there pics when you get home they may have gotten that pic with Cinderella that you got but someone’s blinked in yours...its free until you choose to buy...you’ll have 30 days to decide.(see my post on photo pass info)
Great spots for photos.....

---The castle from the railroad station balcony (see main street and castle...perfect spot to watch the fireworks and get photos and parade viewing spot..but go 1-2hrs before), from tomorrow land bridge, from the rose garden, from crystal palace bridge and a picture with the Walt and Mickey statue.there are very cute staues in from of the castle like dumbo,goofy(on pedastiles around walt)

----Picture sitting on the bench on Main Street with the goofy statue...also with the Minnie statue.

In fantasyland by the carrousel the sword and the stone...you trying to pull it out...

----Pictures in different Epcot countries...doorways and arches make great shots of Disney details...
----Gift shops...yes gift shops are great places to take pics of the full wall of stuffed Mickey’s or pics with you wear/trying on crazy hats (we do this each trip).

----A shot of you wearing your Mickey ears from front and from back.

---Mickey and Minnie's house in Toontown..By mail box or sitting on the furniture, opening the fridge etc...Look at the potted plants...funny names on each...

----Close ups like Mickey ballons, or colourful items in countries like morocco –huge silver plates
get Mickey to wave goodbye to take a picture for the last page of your scrapbook.
-----Always have your camera ready to catch that unexpected shot...like a character shows up you didn’t expect...
----Bring more memory or film than you ever dreamed you needed and lots of batteries/recharger for the camera..You’ll need them...
-----And remember shutterbug to put the camera down and have fun too....
------Plan a stay at resort relax day mid week...you’ll need it...go to the pool or stroll around the resorts checking them out, stroll downtown Disney...take it easy...recharge for the next full day...our first trip I was gung hoe to see it all in a week and wasn’t going to lose a day doing nothing ..Well...I wish I would have...our following trips we take a day mid week to recharge.
---see my blog note on photo pass for hints. Take pictures of all of you...the cast members are usually more than willing and often offer to take a pic of your group...Take them up on it...

-----Wanted to stay at animal kingdom lodge but it was out of the budget...well it has over 100 animals that you can see for free by dropping into the hotel and taking a stroll outside to the viewing areas and if you go around the hotel in the lobby on each floor are free viewing areas as well..I got some great animal shots from there zebra, giraffe etc...All free)...and the gift shop has a place set up for kids to play musical instruments from Africa.

------ There are full size statues of Disney characters that you can pose next too for memorable pictures in downtown Disney area (no admission fee). There is a wonderful Lego store there with plenty of life size Lego structures to check out and a Lego building play area.

---One of the biggest costs at Disney is the stroller rental. $15 + a day, but a double stroller is $30+ a day. That’s $100 or more for a week’s stay for a single stroller...check with the resort to see if anyone has left theirs behind...sometimes they lend them out...or bring a cheap umbrella stroller that you can leave behind if you don’t want to lug it back home...

-Stay on Disney property or off? ----Disney hotels are broken down into 3 categories. Deluxe (Expensive), Moderate (pricey) and Value (very reasonable)... Room rates vary by season so watch for value season deals. So far we have stayed at all star movies (value resort), all star music (value resort) and Coronado springs (moderate rate resort)...value resorts have standard sized rooms ,are noisier because families looking for a deal stay here but if you will be gone all day to the park anyway they are a good deal..Our fav was the moderate resort (2 adults one teenage boy)...better mattress, fancier food court (on dining pal as well) quieter...nicer overall....

-----choose your dates. I highly recommend you go in the off season. This is going to save you a lot of money.
------choose your resort/hotel. We chose to stay on property for the benefits there are to staying on site. The perks of staying on site include Disney transportation directly to each park via bus, extended park hours for resort guests and ability to purchase the dining plan to save on your meal costs-choose your tickets. How many days do you want to spend in the parks? Do you want to hop from park to park? Do you want to visit water parks? (Closed at certain times of the year)
------choose your meal plan. Are dining experiences important to you? We wanted to dine with the characters, so the dining plan was cheaper / great deal.
----Travel insurance is an easy, affordable way of being prepared for anything as you set out to take that all important trip and it can make any bit of travel so much more enjoyable. Just imagine, not having to worry if the airline loses your luggage, or if you end up spraining your ankle... Everything is covered, which means you will have the all important peace of mind you should have when traveling. There are several reasons for buying travel insurance, possessions are lost or stolen, or baggage is lost en route also consider. The business goes bankrupt (cruiseline, airline, resort etc) it’s more common than you’d think. This is a rather more common occurrence then you might think; room accommodation trouble...you go to check in and they don’t have your reservation, no record of your payment, and they refuse to set you up with another room until it’s all sorted out. This takes time and money you may not have. Medical emergencies for you (if hospitalized you’ll desperately need insurance, what if you are there for weeks) or a loved one at home. Extreme weather, hurricane etc...Plan for evacuation...You are attacked God forbid, you’ll need insurance to help you out.
------Make sure you have all important papers with you and a copy at home and one in your carry on (medicare, drivers license, birth certificate, current photos, insurance cards, trip insurance papers, passport, copies of credit card info and #’s to call if lost/stolen, home phone #’s address in case of emergencies, notary paper for kids travelling without both parents, photograph luggage, description, list of contents in case lost..Etc…)
-----Passports-need to be good up to 6 months after you return from your trip...make sure they are up to date…
----Medications, like motion sickness patch/tabs, gravol, pepto bismol, immodium...home prescription meds, allergy meds, epipens...
-----A second pair of eye glasses and prescription in case lost or broken...
---Bring area maps….in case you get lost.
----Book car rentals before you leave to ensure you get type you want book shuttle buses to parks outside Disneyworld like SeaWorld or bush gardens...mears transportation are great and reasonably priced…take advantage of Disney’s free magical express to and from the airport...huge savings...

(hollywood studios).

It was so cute he pretended to groom,pick bugs from my sons hair

a true sign of love LOL...
We had a great time....The characters sure stay "in character".....
I used bazzil paper,Cricut's animal kingdom cartridge for the gorilla
K&Co chipboard pieces(wild saffron),george and basic shapes cartridge for title.

Our year of a million dreams - Disney

Our year of a million dreams was during our September 2007 trip to Disney world in Florida.

We won several prizes; an exclusive tinker bell pin, a VIP seat on Sorin
(we had been waiting 45 mins);

an MGM dream fast pass(get on without being inline);

at animal kingdom we won exclusive year of a million dream

Mickey ears and we OPENED the park(while everyone

waited behind the ropes) we had a Private Safari ride and

personal guide (the driver,the guide and us 3,stoping and

chatting at every animal spot)with a golden fast pass for the

rest of that day (go back as many times as we wished and

get in front of the line)...It was a dream come true for real..

Simply amazing (we don’t usually win things)...

This is the shadow box I made to keep our souvenirs’.....

We are going again (just me, my son and his girlfriend this time

...hubby is not going--this time),It's her first visit and our fourth.It'll be fun
showing her around..And it'll be great getting out of the cold to mid 20's weather instead of
below zero+++ and snow storms....

In 38 days Nov 27th- Dec 5...can’t wait.

new keurig coffee machine

Hey guys,its been a busy week between working my 4 12hr night shifts , dentists appt ,and
graduation photos for my one and only son (kleenex please) and errands.I've had no time to scrap.
I did manage to treat myself to this fab new coffee machine by keurig..it makes a steaming hot
cup of coffee in 30 secs..one cup at a time so each cup is perfect..ahhhh..perfect for the non
morning person:)..Have a great day all...
